Freedom Is The Very Essence Of Our Economy And Society. Without Freedom The Human Mind Is Prevented From Unleashing Its Creative Force. But What Is Also Clear Is That This Freedom Does Not Stand Alone. It Is Freedom In Responsibility And Freedom To Exercise Responsibility.

The Campaign In The Media Takes Place In Many Different Formats, Such As In Citizens Forums Or Town - Hall Shows. And Because We Don't Have A Presidential System In Germany, People Vote For Parties Instead Of Specific Candidates. From The Perspective Of Smaller Parties, Even One Single Televised Debate Is A Detested Anomaly, Because Only The Lead Candidates From The Conservatives And The Spd Take Part.

Personally, I Think That For Example The Chemical Directive In Its Present Form Does Too Much Damage To The Chemical Industry - Especially The Medium Sized Businesses - And Will Hurt Our Worldwide Competitiveness.

I Have Great Respect For Press Freedoms. At The Same Time, However, A Politician Also Has The Freedom To Decide Whether He Or She Will Accept An Invitation To Appear On A Show Or Not.

Implementing Parts Of European Constitution And Leaving Out Others - Without Knowing Where We're Going - Isn't An Option. That Would Be Detrimental To The Overall Balance, Which Is Why We Must Embark On Another Comprehensive Discussion Of The Issue Once Again. I Would Like To See Europe Retain The Idea Of A Constitution In The End, And I Plan To Campaign On Its Behalf.
