The Great Danger In Today's World, Pervaded As It Is By Consumerism, Is The Desolation And Anguish Born Of A Complacent Yet Covetous Heart, The Feverish Pursuit Of Frivolous Pleasures, And A Blunted Conscience. Whenever Our Interior Life Becomes Caught Up In Its Own Interests And Concerns, There Is No Longer Room For Others, No Place For The Poor.

Every Man, Every Woman Who Has To Take Up The Service Of Government, Must Ask Themselves Two Questions: ‘do I Love My People In Order To Serve Them Better? Am I Humble And Do I Listen To Everybody, To Diverse Opinions In Order To Choose The Best Path.’ If You Don’t Ask Those Questions, Your Governance Will Not Be Good.

I Would Like To Ask All Those Who Have Positions Of Responsibility In Economic, Political And Social Life, And All Men And Women Of Goodwill: Let Us Be 'protectors' Of Creation, Protectors Of God's Plan Inscribed In Nature, Protectors Of One Another And Of The Environment.

To Love God And Neighbor Is Not Something Abstract, But Profoundly Concrete: It Means Seeing In Every Person And Face Of The Lord To Be Served, To Serve Him Concretely. And You Are, Dear Brothers And Sisters, In The Face Of Jesus.

Wars Are Always Madness: All Is Lost In War, All Is To Be Gained In Peace.
