How Difficult It Is To Reach Anything

If God Wishes To Be Born As Man And To Unite Mankind In The Fellowship Of The Holy Ghost, He Suffers The Terrible Torment Of Having To Bear The World In Its Reality. It Is A Crux; Indeed, He Himself Is His Own Cross. The World Is God's Suffering, And Every Individual Human Being Who Wishes Even To Approach His Own Wholeness Knows Very Well That This Means Bearing His Own Cross. But The Eternal Promise For Him Who Bears His Own Cross Is The Paraclete.

Nobody Doubts The Importance Of Conscious Experience; Why Then Should We Doubt The Significance Of Unconscious Happenings? They Also Are Part Of Our Life, And Sometimes More Truly A Part Of It For Weal Or Woe Than Any Happenings Of The Day.

The Unconscious Is The Only Available Source Of Religious Experience. This In Certainly Not To Say That What We Call The Unconscious Is Identical With God Or Is Set Up In His Place. It Is Simply The Medium From Which Religious Experience Seems To Flow. As To What The Further Cause Of Such Experience Might Be, The Answer To This Lies Beyond The Range Of Human Knowledge.

The Unconscious Wants To Flow Into Consciousness In Order To Reach The Light, But At The Same Time It Continually Thwarts Itself, Because It Would Rather Remain Unconscious. That Is To Say, God Wants To Become Man, But Not Quite.

It Is My Mind, With Its Store Of Images, That Gives The World Colour And Sound; And That Supremely Real And Rational Certainty Which I Call "experience" Is, In Its Most Simple Form, An Exceedingly Complicated Structure Of Mental Images. Thus There Is, In A Certain Sense, Nothing That Is Directly Experienced Except The Mind Itself. Everything Is Mediated Through The Mind.
