Nowadays New-york Is Not The Exciting Place It Used To Be. It Still Has Great Energy; I Still Put My Finger In The Socket. But It Doesn't Feel Alive, Cracking With That Synergy Between The Art World And Music World And Fashion World That Was Happening In The 80s. A Lot Of People Died.

A Lot Of People Saw Marilyn Monroe And Judy Garland As Persecuted And Tragic And Vulnerable, And I Think A Lot Of Gay Men Feel That Way Because Of Their Particular Predicament In Society And Not Being Accepted Completely.

My Father Was Very Strong. I Don't Agree With A Lot Of The Ways He Brought Me Up. I Don't Agree With A Lot Of His Values, But He Did Have A Lot Of Integrity, And If He Told Us Not To Do Something, He Didn't Do It Either.

Everyone Has A Self-destructive Nature In Them. It's Whether You Feed It Or Not. You Don't Have To Be A Pop Star To Feel Connected To Destruction Or Self-destruction. But Self-destruction Is Self-obsession, And Self-obsession Is Not Really Possible If You're Engaged In Raising Children. And If You Have A Spiritual Life, You're Constantly Being Asked To See Yourself As One Small Fragment In The Bigger Picture.
