If Iraq And Afghanistan Have Taught Us Anything In Recent History, It Is The Unpredictability Of War And That These Things Are Easier To Get Into Than To Get Out Of, And, Frankly, The Facile Way In Which Too Many People Talk About, 'well, Let's Just Go Attack Them.

Military Success Is Not Sufficient To Win: Economic Development, Institution-building And The Rule Of Law, Promoting Internal Reconciliation, Good Governance, Providing Basic Services To The People, Training And Equipping Indigenous Military And Police Forces, Strategic Communications, And More Of These, Along With Security, Are Essential Ingredients For Long-term Success.
