By Lying, We Deny Others A View Of The World As It Is. Our Dishonesty Not Only Influences The Choices They Make, It Often Determines The Choices They Can Make—and In Ways We Cannot Always Predict. Every Lie Is A Direct Assault Upon The Autonomy Of Those We Lie To.

Consider It: Every Person You Have Ever Met, Every Person Will Suffer The Loss Of His Friends And Family. All Are Going To Lose Everything They Love In This World. Why Would One Want To Be Anything But Kind To Them In The Meantime?

Mysticism Is A Rational Enterprise. Religion Is Not. The Mystic Has Recognized Something About The Nature Of Consciousness Prior To Thought, And This Recognition Is Susceptible To Rational Discussion. The Mystic Has Reasons For What He Believes, And These Reasons Are Empirical. The Roiling Mystery Of The World Can Be Analyzed With Concepts (this Is Science), Or It Can Be Experienced Free Of Concepts (this Is Myticism). Religion Is Nothing More Than Bad Concepts Held In Place Of Good Ones For All Time. It Is The Denial-at Once Full Of Hope And Full Of Fear-of The Vastitude Of Human Ignorance.

While Believing Strongly, Without Evidence, Is Considered A Mark Of Madness Or Stupidity In Any Other Area Of Our Lives, Faith In God Still Holds Immense Prestige In Our Society. Religion Is The One Area Of Our Discourse Where It Is Considered Noble To Pretend To Be Certain About Things No Human Being Could Possibly Be Certain About. It Is Telling That This Aura Of Nobility Extends Only To Those Faiths That Still Have Many Subscribers. Anyone Caught Worshipping Poseidon, Even At Sea, Will Be Thought Insane.
