When We Are Generous In Welcoming People And Sharing Something With Them-some Food, A Place In Our Homes, Our Time-not Only Do We No Longer Remain Poor: We Are Enriched.

For Just As Some People Want A Purely Spiritual Christ, Without Flesh And Without The Cross, They Also Want Their Interpersonal Relationships Provided By Sophisticated Equipment, By Screens And Systems Which Can Be Turned On And Off On Command. Meanwhile, The Gospel Tells Us Constantly To Run The Risk Of A Face-to-face Encounter With Others, With Their Physical Presence Which Challenges Us, With Their Pain And Their Pleas, With Their Joy Which Infects Us In Our Close And Continuous Interaction.

Let Us Pray For Peace: Peace In The World And In Each Of Our Hearts.

The Two Key Words For The European Union Are Creativity And Fruitfulness. That's The Challenge.

At This Time Of Crisis We Cannot Be Concerned Solely With Ourselves, Withdrawing Into Loneliness, Discouragement And A Sense Of Powerlessness In The Face Of Problems. Please Do Not Withdraw Into Yourselves! This Is A Danger: We Shut Ourselves Up In The Parish, With Our Friends, Within The Movement, With The Like-minded... But Do You Know What Happens? When The Church Becomes Closed, She Becomes An Ailing Church, She Falls Ill! That Is A Danger. . . .a Church Closed In On Herself Is The Same, A Sick Church.
