Certain Pathologies Are Increasing, With Their Psychological Consequences; Fear And Desperation Grip The Hearts Of Many People, Even In The So-called Rich Countries; The Joy Of Life Is Diminishing; Indecency And Violence Are On The Rise; Poverty Is Becoming More And More Evident. People Have To Struggle To Live And, Frequently, To Live In An Undignified Way.

The Time Has Come For The Church To Take Up The Joyful Call To Mercy Once More. It Is Time To Return To The Basics And To Bear The Weaknesses And Struggles Of Our Brothers And Sisters. Mercy Is The Force That Reawakens Us To New Life And Instils In Us The Courage To Look To The Future With Hope.

We Must Restore Hope To Young People, Help The Old, Be Open To The Future, Spread Love. Be Poor Among The Poor. We Need To Include The Excluded And Preach Peace.

Let Us Pray For Peace, And Let Us Bring It About, Starting In Our Own Homes.
