Whether We Believe In Our Capacity For Self-government Or Whether We Abandon The American Revolution And Confess That A Little Intellectual Elite In A Far-distant Capital Can Plan Our Lives For Us Better Than We Can Plan Them For Ourselves.

Democracy Is Not A Fragile Flower; Still It Needs Cultivating.

But The Simple Truth Is That We've Lost Control Of Our Own Borders, And No Nation Can Do That And Survive.

Our Goal Is Peace. We Can Gain That Peace By Strengthening Our Alliances, By Speaking Candidly About The Dangers Before Us, By Assuring Potential Adversaries Of Our Seriousness, By Actively Pursuing Every Chance Of Honest And Fruitful Negotiation.
