The Word 'innocence' Means 'incapable Of Being Hurt'. To Have A Mind That Is Not Capable Of Being Hurt, Does Not Mean That It Has Built Up A Lot Of Resistance - On The Contrary, Such A Mind Is Dying To Everything That It Has Known In Which There Has Been Conflict, Pleasure And Pain. Only Then Is The Mind Innocent; That Means It Can Love. You Cannot Love With Memory, Love Is Not A Matter Of Remembrance, Of Time.

It Is Man's Pretence That Because He Has Choice He Is Free. Freedom Is Pure Observation Without Direction, Without Fear Of Punishment And Reward. Freedom Is Without Motive; Freedom Is Not At The End Of The Evolution Of Man But Lies In The First Step Of His Existence.

Meditation Is Not The Pursuit Of An Invisible Path Leading To Some Imaginal Bliss. The Meditative Mind Is Seeing, Watching, Listening, Without The Word, Without Comment, Without Opinion, Attentive To The Movement Of Life In All Its Relationships Throughout The Day.

It Is Intelligence That Brings Order, Not Discipline.

If You Would Listen, Sir, In The Sense Of Being Aware Of Your Conflicts And Contradictions Without Forcing Them Into Any Particular Pattern Of Thought, Perhaps They Might Altogether Cease.
