In Opposing Communism, We Are Defeating Ourselves If We Use Methods That Do Not Conform To The American Sense Of Justice.

Personal Prayer, It Seems To Me, Is One Of The Simplest Necessities Of Life, As Basic To The Individual As Sunshine, Food And Water-and At Times, Of Course, More So. By Prayer I Mean An Effort To Get In Touch With The Infinite. We Know That Our Prayers Are Imperfect. Of Course They Are. We Are Imperfect Human Beings. A Thousand Experiences Have Convinced Me Beyond Room Of Doubt That Prayer Multiplies The Strength Of The Individual And Brings Within The Scope Of His Capabilities Almost Any Conceivable Objective.

Now This Brings Me To My Main Topic - Our Military Strength - More Specifically, How To Stay Strong Against Threat From Outside, Without Undermining The Economic Health That Supports Our Security.

Controlled, Universal Disarmament Is The Imperative Of Our Time. The Demand For It By The Hundreds Of Millions Whose Chief Concern Is The Long Future Of Themselves And Their Children Will, I Hope, Become So Universal And So Insistent That No Man, No Government Anywhere, Can Withstand It.

If The United Nations Once Admits That International Disputes Can Be Settled By Using Force, Then We Will Have Destroyed The Foundation Of The Organization And Our Best Hope Of Establishing A World Order.
