If Not Us, Who? And If Not

I'm Sure Everyone Feels Sorry For The Individual Who Has Fallen By The Wayside Or Who Can't Keep Up In Our Competitive Society, But My Own Compassion Goes Beyond That To Those Millions Of Unsung Men And Women, Who Get Up Every Morning, Send The Kids To School, Go To Work, Try To Keep Up The Payments On Their House, Pay Exorbitant Taxes To Make Possible Compassion For The Less Fortunate, And As A Result Have To Sacrifice Many Of Their Own Desires And Dreams And Hopes. Government Owes Them Something Better Than Always Finding A New Way To Make Them Share The Fruit Of Their Toils With Others.

We Do Not Deny Any Nation's Legitimate Interest In Security. But Protecting The Security Of One Nation By Robbing Another Of Its National Independence And National Traditions Is Not Legitimate. In The Long Run, It Is Not Even Secure.

We Hear Much Of Special Interest Groups. Well, Our Concern Must Be For A Special Interest Group That Has Been Too Long Neglected. It Knows No Sectional Boundaries Or Ethnic And Racial Divisions, And It Crosses Political Party Lines. It Is Made Up Of Men And Women Who Raise Our Food, Patrol Our Streets, Man Our Mines And Factories, Teach Our Children, Keep Our Homes, And Heal Us When We're Sick - Professionals, Industrialists, Shopkeepers, Clerks, Cabbies, And Truck Drivers. They Are, In Short, "we The People," This Breed Called Americans.

I Saw Them; There Is Nothing Beautiful About Them, Just That They Are A Little Higher Than The Others. Referring To One Of The Oldest And Loveliest Groves Of Redwoods, Showing Insensitivity To Their Magnificence.

More Than A Decade Ago, A Supreme Court Decision Literally Wiped Off The Books Of Fifty States Statutes Protecting The Rights Of Unborn Children. Abortion On Demand Now Takes The Lives Of Up To 1.5 Million Unborn Children A Year. Human Life Legislation Ending This Tragedy Will Some Day Pass The Congress, And You And I Must Never Rest Until It Does. Unless And Until It Can Be Proven That The Unborn Child Is Not A Living Entity, Then Its Right To Life, Liberty, And The Pursuit Of Happiness Must Be Protected.
